Our approach is to manage most issues as performance (non-disciplinary) using a ‘crucial conversations’ framework supported by emails. This avoids formal processes and ‘builds the case’, which is far more effective including for termination of employment.
We deal with complaints and misconduct by using formal investigations and mediation as an option of last resort. We conduct and manage disciplinary processes and outcomes up to dismissal.
We adopt a proactive approach to fitness for work (capacity) issues with an increasing emphasis on understanding mental health issues. This includes requirements to undergo medical examinations, managing return to work plans and ongoing incapacity up to resolution.
